Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse

Are you ready to enhance your skills in nurse leadership and management? An exciting opportunity awaits you on Chestnut Ward as a Deputy Ward Leader.

Chestnut Ward is a 28-bed medical unit specialising in frailty. We are looking for highly motivated, dynamic, and enthusiastic individuals with exceptional communication skills.

This role will empower you to develop your clinical, leadership, and management abilities, helping you achieve your personal and professional aspirations.

As Deputy Ward Leader, you will be pivotal in establishing and upholding high standards of patient care. You will serve as a role model, championing quality, evidence-based practice, and nurturing the nursing team. You will also play a crucial role in managing the department effectively in the absence of the Senior Ward Leader.

To qualify, you must have at least three years of post-registration experience and be prepared to work in partnership with the Ward Leader.

Main duties of the job

  • Deliver a high standard of care, always striving to improve on what you do through change and innovation
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Able to prioritise own workload and that of others
  • ensuring that standards of hospital cleanliness are maintained on their ward/department and are met at all times
  • Organisation & prioritisation skills
  • Time management skills
  • Experience in conflict management and resolution
  • Act as a senior member of the nursing team, deputising for the ward Manager in their absence
  • Demonstrate exemplary clinical skills and capabilities
