We require the post holder to be able to demonstrate excellent negotiating and influencing skills, attention to detail, proficient use of IT, in particular report writing and presentation skills, management of data processes, and the use of all internal and external systems, databases and action logs that will facilitate the efficient management of the Clinical Governance & Quality Assurance services

Candidates must be registered with the GPhC and meet the essential criteria as specified in the person specification.
The postholder will work directly with the Clinical Governance & Quality Assurance Manager to ensure the safe and effective management of medicines throughout the Trust and ensure the quality of pharmacy services is effectively monitored and continually improves. You will help implement and maintain all aspects of the pharmacy quality management system and monitor practice in medicines management to ensure policies and procedures are implemented effectively.
Main duties of the job
The post holder is responsible for QA and clinical governance in pharmacy and the wider organisation. You will ensure compliance with legislation and medicines management standards throughout the Trust.
Other tasks include:
- Direct line management of the clinical governance & quality assurance teams
- Undertaking service improvement projects
- Daily management of the Quality Management System, including document control, asset monitoring & management of deviations
- Internal audits & actions
- Management of deviations, including documentation and investigation
- Unlicensed medicines
- Oversight of medical gas cylinders
- Management of controlled prescription stationery including FP10 and outpatient prescription pads
- Controlled drug inspections. writing reports and improvement plans
- Investigating discrepancies and unusual usage patterns of medicines
- Writing quality reports and attending quality meetings
- Temperature monitoring within the pharmacy department
- Producing and delivering training for pharmacy and clinical staff
You will be based in the pharmacy department at York Hospital but may be required to work at other Trust sites on occasion. Core service hours are Monday to Friday 08:45 - 17:15. You will contribute to the weekend and bank holiday rota. You will have a regular dispensary slot where you will conduct final accuracy checks as part of the ACPT led dispensary service.
