Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a Band 5 Children's Trained Registered Nurse to join the Neonatal Unit at York Hospital.

The York Neonatal Unit is a 15 bedded unit that compromises of 2 ICU/HDU cots, 9 Special Care cots and 4 Transitional Care cots. York Neonates cares for babies and their families from 27 weeks gestation and 800g in weight.

Main duties of the job

Interviews for this position will be held in person ONLY at York Hospital site. Remote interviews will not be available.

The validity of Nursing and Midwifery Council PIN will be checked before shortlisting, inaccuracies in NMC PIN details will mean your application will not be progressed.

  • Maintain a high standard of patient focused care in accordance with York Teaching Hospital NHS Trust polices and procedures
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment
  • Provide assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of family centred care using best evidenced Trust and Network guidance
  • Keep accurate written and electronic records
  • Communicate with patients and carers to ensure they have access to appropriate information.
  • Promote and maintain positive relationships between all staff involved in the care of the patient and family.
  • Act in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Council Code of Conduct
  • Undertake duties on different wards/departments as and when required by service demands
  • Participate in the audit and evaluation of clinical practices in the interests of promoting quality care. Promote evidence based practice where possible.
  • Demonstrate personal responsibility for compliance with infection control policies and procedures
