An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our friendly and dynamic Administration and Reception team at the Head & Neck department at York Teaching Hospital.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the Head and Neck administration team. This will include:

    • Participation in the recruitment, selection and retention of staff.
    • The development and implementation of appropriate staff induction and training programmes, including familiarisation with Trust policies and procedures for all new appointments.
    • The maintenance of a programme of individual development reviews/appraisal on all team members within Trust guidelines.
    • The authorisation of leave requests, recording of sickness absence and the maintenance of appropriate records.
    • To ensure adequate cover during periods of annual leave and sickness absence for the department, liaising with other team leaders as necessary.
    • Task allocation to cover all duties within the team.
    • To coach, support guide and advise team members and undertake responsibility for day-to day activities and problem solving, ensuring workflow targets are met.
    • To ensure capacity and performance issues are escalated appropriately to department management team.

  • GCSE English Language, Grade C or above (or equivalent)

  • Knowledge of medical terminology
