The successful applicant will be required to work flexibly to support the Clinical Coding Team, in the timely and accurate clinical coding of all in-patient episodes, adhering to National Clinical Coding Standards at all times. You will be expected to attend clinical coding training and workshops, as necessary to maintain personal development.In addition, the successful applicant must possess a keen eye for detail, and be capable of organising their own workload in order to meet strict deadlines. You will have a proven record of working in a team environment and contributing to the team's success, be able to analyse and interpret complex medical information, and be able to effectively communicate with all relevant healthcare professions.Successful applicants will be shortlisted based upon how they meet the essential and desirable criteria set out in the Person Specification, candidates who fail to demonstrate this will not be shortlisted.
Main duties of the job
In order to be shortlisted for the Band 5 position you must have UK Coding experience, hold the NCCQ qualification and demonstrate the following criteria on your application form:
- extensive, varied clinical coding experience
- NCCQ qualified
- computer literate
- educated to GCSE standard
- knowledge of ICD-10 and OPCS4 clinical coding classifications
- knowledge of anatomy and physiology, medical terminology
- understanding of coding rules and conventions
- ability to abstract clinical information from case notes
- ability to communicate with all relevant healthcare professions
- ability to work in a team environment and contribute to the team's success
