Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join our Waiting List Team, based either at York or Scarborough Hospital. As a member of the team, you will assist with managing waiting lists for elective surgery and working in accordance with Government Access targets to ensure patients are treated in line with Trust Access policies.

This postis varied and includes contact with patients and many Health Care Professionals associated with admitting patients for surgery.

We are looking foran individualwith excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in an environment where demands and priorities change quickly.

We are looking for someone educated to a minimum of A level standard or with equivalent relevant experience, with a minimum of one year experience working in a patient/customer focused environment.

An awareness of Government Access targets would be desirable. You must be well organised, able to work on your own initiative and demonstrate confidence in independent decision making.

Main duties of the job

  • To take a lead role in managing the waiting list of a group of Consultants using CPD, in accordance with Trust Policies and government wait time targets.
  • Monitor the waiting list and work list on a daily basis to ensure Government Access Targets are not breached.
  • To co-ordinate admission and associated pre-operative assessment clinics, ensuring all key hospital staff are aware of organisational arrangements and that relevant medical records are available in time for the procedure.
  • To coordinate surgeons' theatre lists, including selecting appropriate cases in clinical/ chronological order and with appropriate attention to medical requirements of the procedures.
  • To ensure that problems highlighted from routine reports are actioned in a timely matter i.e. TCI's in the past, outpatient outcomes, inpatient and day case booking etc.
  • To understand and comply with Private Patient protocols, including arranging additional lists/overruns of existing lists to accommodate these patients and ensuring that appropriate information is shared with finance/Private Patient offices.
  • To author and edit weekly Admissions List and other essential documents to be used by all stakeholders.
  • To ensure that information regarding additional resources are passed to patients as required - e.g. information regarding how to book transport for them to arrive at the expected time.
  • To arrange interpretation services for all relevant appointments.
