York endoscopy unit is a new, state of the art seven roomed purpose built endoscopy suite, where staff take pride in helping others learn and develop their nursing and endoscopy skills. We are looking for team players who are committed to delivering high standards of patient care with excellent communication skills, a flexible attitude and demonstrate a commitment to their professional development.

The department performs range of diagnostic and therapeutic upper and lower gastro intestinal procedures. These include ERCP, Bowel Cancer Screening, gastroscopy, transnasal, colonoscopy, small bowel capsule, bronchoscopy and EBUS, and manometry and physiology investigations. Alongside this we offer a nurse led pre-assessment and anti-coagulation clinic providing assessment and advice to patients pre procedure.

Your role will also involve taking part in an out of hours week day and weekends GI bleed service. This will require you to support the on call consultants. Full training will be provided to support the right applicants.

Hours of working - Monday to Sunday 8am-8pm.

Main duties of the job

  • Maintain a high standard of patient focused care in accordance with York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust policies and procedures
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment
  • Provide assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care for patients, ensuring accurate written records are kept.
  • Communicate with patients and carers to ensure they have access to appropriate information.
  • Promote and maintain positive relationships between all staff involved in the care of the patient
  • Act in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Council Code of Conduct
  • Undertake duties on different wards/departments as and when required by service demands
  • Demonstrate personal responsibility for compliance with infection control policies and procedures
