An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Physiotherapist with an interest in Parkinson's disease. This is a brand new post at York & Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and the successful applicant will be instrumental in the setting up and development of this acute based service for people with Parkinson's in Elderly Medicine.

The position is 30 hours per week, working supporting patients in maintaining their independence, keeping them out of hospital and remain in their own homes.

We're a supportive team with opportunities to work with colleagues across a number of specialties. The post will be cross site (York & Scarborough) and will be covering the registered population of people living in and around York, North Yorkshire, North East Yorkshire and Ryedale - an area covering 3,400 square mile

This post is initially funded for two years by Parkinson's UK with the post becoming substantive at the end of the two years and as such the successful applicant will be expected to carry out an audit/evaluation of the post to demonstrate its value.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a dynamic and motivated Physiotherapist who has experience and is keen to develop their skills in the areas of Neurological Physiotherapy, with a special interest in Parkinson's Disease.

You will support the Parkinson's team in Elderly Medicine in the planning, development and evaluation of Parkinson's Disease services across York & Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, working closely with colleagues within Neurology Therapies to implement innovative patient pathways and evidence-based clinical care.

We are looking for an individual who is an excellent communicator with a flexible approach, and an eagerness to establish links with community partners, sharing clinical expertise with therapy colleagues and the wider MDT.

The post will be based across inpatient, outpatient and community settings across the York and Scarborough sites. You will have robust clinical and managerial supervision and training provided to support you in role, whilst also undertaking support and supervision of junior staff and students.
