Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen on Ash ward at Scarborough hospital. We are seeking an experienced leader to take on the permanent role of Senior Sister/Charge Nurse.
Ash ward is a 15 bed medical, ward, which specialises in gastroenterology. We look after patients with any conditions of the GI tract, including liver disease, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. Bowel conditions, such as chrons disease, IBD, and ulcerative colitis, who may require biologics. Nutrition is of prime importance, and we provide care and management for patients, who require enteral feeding. We also care for patients who require Total Parental Nutrition. The ward also caters for a variety of other medical conditions.
Although small, it is a very challenging and exciting area to develop your leadership skills.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate would work with the Matron to ensure that excellent evidence based clinical standards are met and patient safety is maintained.
To provide a focused leadership role, within the clinical area.
To work with the Junior Sister, to manage the workforce, including rostering, HR issues, sickness management, and recruitment and retention.
The successful candidate would work closely with the multidisciplinary team to maintain good communication and embed SAFER principles'
The post-holder will join a positive and focussed nursing team, striving to provide the best standard of care for patients by supporting the nursing team into the future. The role will involve managing improvement projects; acting on patient feedback; roster and sickness management; maintaining ward budget. You will be required to ensure all aspects of patient care and safety are met to the highest standard.
The successful candidate must have at least 18 months post registration experience at Band 6.
