Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for two individuals to join the Microbiology team at the Hull University Teaching Hospital. We are looking for individuals who will be enthusiastic and dedicated additions to our friendly team to enable us to provide a high quality and efficient Microbiology diagnostic service to our patients and users of the service.
The successful candidates will be working alongside a team of Associate Practitioners and Biomedical Scientists five days per week and full training will be provided. Once suitably trained weekend, evening and bank holiday participation will be required.
Main duties of the job
Receipt and sorting of samples into the department
Pre analytical preparation of samples
Data inputting of patient information/requests onto the laboratory computer
Telephone enquiry and results service
Assisting in the general cleanliness and tidying of the section
Routine analyser preparation and operation
Perform basic laboratory procedures e.g. disinfecting work surfaces, monitoring and recording temperatures and the use of autoclaves.
