Main duties of the job

York and Scarborough Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is looking to welcome Consultants in Elderly Medicine to join our friendly and dynamic team based at York Hospital. There is one post available to develop quality services with opportunities within Elderly Medicine and we are happy to discuss any specialist interest.

The post offered are 10 programmed activities (PAs) over four days, with an on-call commitment of 1 in 11.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Hold a medical qualification registered with the GMC
  • Hold a license to practise with the General Medical Council
  • Entry on the GMC Specialist Register in Geriatrics via CCT (proposed CCT date must be within 12 months of interview) - CESR or - European Community Rights (Within 12 months of completing a training programme recognised for the award of CCT or equivalent)

Desirable

  • MD or equivalent Higher Degree or evidence of relevant research
  • Experience of teaching lay groups and paramedical staff

Mentoring and Teaching

Essential

  • Experience of teaching undergraduate and post graduate trainees
  • Experience of undertaking audits and presenting their findings

Desirable

  • Experience of supervising Specialist trainees

Clinical practice/ competence

Essential

  • Ability to demonstrate clinical experience and skill in the specialty
  • Demonstrates a sound knowledge of clinical governance practice

Desirable

  • Experience of working in or setting up a clinical service
