Job summary

Are you a caring, compassionate and highly motivated individual who is passionate about providing high quality, patient centred care?

York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is pleased to announce that it is extending its very successful Nursing Associate Apprenticeship to external applicants.

We welcome applications for this exciting Apprenticeship from those who have a minimum of 6 months care experience in either acute/secondary care, community care, primary care, social care, or nursing home care.

The Nursing Associate role bridges the gap between health and care support workers, who have a care certificate or equivalent and registered nurses and offers opportunities for health care support workers to progress into nursing roles. This exciting role provides a real benefit to the nursing and care workforce across a range of settings and plays a key role in the delivery of patient care with safety at its heart. This role is regulated by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).

Main duties of the job

The Nursing Associate Apprenticeship is delivered over 2 years, in partnership with the University of York, this is referred to as the 'on-programme delivery'.

It is an integrated Foundation Degree and work-placed learning model; where the apprentice must complete the NMC's required number of hours of structured learning activities and a minimum number of clinical placements to achieve an equal balance of theory and practice learning.

Please see the attached job description and click here for further information regarding the apprenticeship programme and delivery, the NMC's Nursing Associate proficiencies, of which the apprentice will be expected to attain throughout the duration of the apprenticeship and the Apprenticeship Standard which states the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to successfully complete this apprenticeship.
