In line with our outlook, we are now inviting applications for a permanent resident consultant post in the Obstetrics & Gynaecology team at York Hospital.
The post holder will join a team consisting of 25 consultants, based across York & Scarborough, in the Obstetrics & Gynaecology service, which is provided to a population of approximately 800,000.
The posts will include resident consultant out of hours duties covering obstetrics & acute gynaecology.
Main duties of the job
The Obstetrics & Gynaecology service in York are going through an exciting period of change and challenges. We are looking to recruit a new consultant to join our experienced and supportive team.
The Obstetrics & Gynaecology department also has close links with Hull and York Medical School (HYMS) and if candidates are interested the job could involve a regular HYMS teaching commitment. There would also be opportunities to development management roles within the medical school for candidates interested in undergraduate education.
Although we welcome applications from all candidates with general Obstetrics & Gynaecology skills, as part of our service development planning. We desire applicants with advanced training skills in High Risk Pregnancy or Maternal Medicine.
This role will involve provision of high risk antenatal pregnancy care, cross site, especially to support our population in the Scarborough Hospital area.
Individualised starting 10PA Job Plans will involve a combination of acute and elective Obstetrics and Gynecology cover based on the post successful applicants advanced training skills mix and our evolving cross site departmental service requirements. The post holder with be part of the Resident Consultant out of hours acute cover rota based at York Hospital.

The post is required to undertake general Obstetrics and Gynaecology role involving covering acute maternity sessions, caesarean section lists, antenatal clinics, gynaecology outpatients, gynaecology operating lists and emergency gynaecology with opportunities to develop in specialist skills area depending on individual successful applicant interest.
