An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Specialist Nurse within the Nutrition Nurse Service. The post will be based at Scarborough Hospital, but there is the requirement to work clinically cross site at York Hospital as well (please make contact to discuss).

The Nutrition Nurse role is diverse and covers clinical and non-clinical elements. Clinical support is provided for the ward teams that are caring for patients with enteral and parenteral feeding. You will work closely with the Lead Nutrition Specialist Nurse and the Nutrition Steering Group to complete improvement projects and develop the service.

Main duties of the job

  • Supporting the ward teams to provide patient care specific to enteral feeding tubes and line care for patients with parenteral nutrition.
  • To act as a link for the community Nutricia Nurses and coordinate reviews of community patients who require a review in hospital.
  • To support the Lead Nutrition Support Specialist Nurse to coordinate the weekly Nutrition Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) meeting.
  • To contribute to the weekly Nutrition MDT meeting.
  • The provision of planned and ad hoc education sessions relating to nutrition and hydration.
  • Completion of improvement projects as directed within the Nutrition Steering Group.
