Job summary

The Site Operations Team is currently looking to recruit a Patient Transfer Assistant, working a variety of shift patterns, including; 07:30 - 20:00 (long day) and 11:30 - 00:00 (twilight shift), across 7 days.

You will be responsible, following training, for the collection and delivery of patients across York Hospital. You will be part of a dedicated team delivering this essential service to the Trust and have excellent customer service skills, good understanding of manual handling and safety and lead by example in this operational role.

This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience of hospital flow and to help build key relationships between patients and staff.

Main duties of the job

The Transfer Team will assist with the flow of patients from the Emergency department, admission units and down stream wards. Flow towards the Discharge Lounge will be a key role, ultimately supporting the transfer of patients throughout their hospital journey.

Transferring patients from one clinical area to another on either in a bed or a chair whilst working closely with members of the multi-disciplinary team within the clinical areas and management teams.

The Patient Transfer Assistant will ensure patient safety is maintained and patient experience is positive by treating all patients, relatives and colleagues with respect, dignity, and courtesy in accordance with Trust values, ensuring at all times you act within your sphere of competence.

Ensure patient movement and other movement requests are actioned promptly.

Maintain high standard of cleanliness of equipment and accessories, e.g. trolleys, beds, wheelchairs.
