Job summary

An exciting training opportunity has arisen for a community outreach worker who wants to develop their skills in the field of Sexual Health. The post holder will be expected work as part of an outreach and prevention team delivering elements of clinical care, support, advice and engagement across York and North Yorkshire to most at risk populations.

The post holder will use their unique position to provide champion Yorsexual sexual health service and support with most at risk populations to access good sexual health. The post holder will engage in outreach, health and social care professionals, community education, sign posting, and advocacy.

The post holder will be required to travel between clinics and non-clinical environments to support the multidisciplinary team in their clinical and outreach role. We are looking for a person who is enthusiastic and passionate about supporting people who may experience barriers to good sexual health and health inequality with York and North Yorkshire.

The role is for up to full time hours of 37.5 hours per week. Our successful candidate will work cross York and North Yorkshire. Therefore, the ability to transport yourself across the locality during the normal working day is a requirement of this role.

Main duties of the job

  • Outreach working with most at risk populations including but not limited to; young people, men who have sex with men, sex workers, homeless people, people with drugs and alcohol misuse, asylum seekers, Black and Ethnic minority groups, victims of domestic violence
  • Engagement, advocacy and signposting
  • STI testing
  • Working with other organisations to promote good sexual health across York and North Yorkshire
  • Administrative support
  • Working within the Trusts Safeguarding policy
  • Facilitating STI testing
