Job summary
York & Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has an ambitious programme of service modernisation and a reputation for providing high quality services. In line with our outlook, we are now inviting applications for this new post, in the Urology team at York Teaching Hospital.
The post is not a recognized training post, but would be ideal for those wishing to gain further experience in the specialty as the training, supervision and clinical experience will be similar to that of the training grade doctors and tailored to the postholder's previous level of experience.
Main duties of the job
The Specialty Registrar will work at middle grade level for the Urology service and will focus on the delivery of core elective and acute Urological services. Additionally, there may be scope to develop independent practice and this will be dependent on the skill and experience of the successful candidate.
The post is not primarily a research post but it is designed to give specialist experience in the Urology surgery prior to taking up a consultant post. The successful candidate will join two Specialty Registrars at a similar level and two Specialist Registrars from the Higher Surgical Training Programme. It is expected that key "core competencies" are achieved from the post with an educational contract to be agreed on appointment
