Person Specification

Education, Qualifications and Training

Essential

• Good basic education - reading and writing plus basic numeric skills.
• Willingness to complete appropriate qualifications for work related training - (i.e. catering for Scarborough, Bridlington)
• An understanding of the importance of health and safety at Work & COSHH

Desirable

• BICSc Qualification/NVQ Level 2 in Cleaning or equivalent
• Basic understanding of infection control
• Knowledge of NHS & Local Trust

Experience & Knowledge Required

Essential

• Able to read, write and converse in English
• Able to understand and follow written and verbal instructions
• Effective oral and written communication skills
• Basic IT skills
• Flexible approach to work
• Able to work alone and with others as part of a team using initiative
• Experience of working in cleaning industry
• Previous experience of working with people

Desirable

• Ability to prioritise work of self and others
• Able to use small and large pieces of equipment such as Regeneration oven/dishwashers/Floor machinery
• Previous NHS experience

• Good customer service skills
• Possess excellent personal hygiene standards
• Flexible attitude to work, hours and duties
• Positive can do attitude
• Commitment to learning new skills

Physical Requirements

Essential

• Assessed as fit and capable to carry out all duties expected
• Able to work in an environment which may get hot on occasions
• Able to work in unpleasant conditions
• Undertake cleaning duties involving lifting items and operating cleaning machinery, some of which is industrial standard
• Work without immediate supervision being able to prioritise, and use own initiative
• Work in pressure situations and still maintain standards
• Undertake high quality cleaning /domestic work
• Able to work to deadlines
