Job summary
The Cancer Health & Wellbeing Support Service has an exciting opportunity to recruit an additional Complementary Therapist on a Fixed-Term basis, with funding available until June 2024. We would also welcome applications from suitable internal candidates on a secondment basis.
The successful candidate will work alongside the Trust's existing Complementary Therapist to deliver auricular acupuncture to patients with cancer on a 1:1 and group basis, and therefore will require qualification, training, and experience in delivering the 5 Point NADA Protocol. The candidate will have excellent listening and communication skills, and will be able to empathise and provide emotional support to patients with cancer and their family, friends, and carers.
The post will be based at York Hospital and may involve occasional travel within our other Trust sites.
You will be required to work well as part of a team, taking a reflective and self-disciplined approach, and be confident to share knowledge and experience to improve the service with other team members and senior colleagues.

Main duties of the job
- Manage an agreed caseload of patients with minimal supervision
- Assess the individual needs of patients referred into the Complementary Therapy Service and develop an appropriate treatment/care plan
- Deliver a programme of therapy including (where appropriate) the teaching of techniques to patients and their family members
- Maintain contemporaneous records including assessment, treatment, consent, and discharge documents
- Participate in locally agreed evaluation of complementary therapies and promote
- Liaise as appropriate with other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal care and treatment for the allocated caseload of patients
- Regularly review practice to ensure the highest possible standard of care
