Job summary

Open to current trainee pharmacists due to qualify this summer

Are you looking for an opportunity to work in a hospital pharmacy setting and study for a funded Post Graduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy? Does the prospect of being supported to develop and progress from band 6 to band 7 appeal to you? If your answer to these questions is yes, then we have just the role for you!

Scarborough Hospital is looking for enthusiastic and patient focused pharmacists/trainee pharmacists to join our friendly Pharmacy Team by the sea. The post is ideal for someone wanting to develop their clinical knowledge and skills.

Thinking about moving to the area? We offer a healthy relocation package - more information available upon request.

Main duties of the job

In this full time role, you will have the opportunity to gain clinical experience in many different specialities such as; elderly care, respiratory, diabetes, cardiology, stroke, gastroenterology, acute medical admissions and surgery. You will rotate through the different areas of the hospital, working as part of a small team with medicines management technicians and assistants and supported by specialist pharmacists in each area. We are also exploring the opportunity for a 4-month placement in Mental Health with our local Mental Health and Learning Disabilities NHS Trust (TEWV).

We provide an individually tailored induction plan and mentor, and welcome all applicants whether you have hospital pharmacy experience or not. We gradually introduce key responsibilities as experience is gained and you will be supported to develop your clinical knowledge and skills. After being in post for at least 12 months and being able to demonstrate you have met the key responsibilities you will be eligible for progression into a band 7 role.

We actively encourage your development in the form of a postgraduate clinical diploma at Bradford University. We will provide you with a senior tutor and allocated study time. There will also be an opportunity for further development into non medical prescribing.

Whilst the majority of your time will be ward based, you will also contribute to the provision of professional cover for our dispensary and participate, in weekend and on-call rotas.
