We are recruiting a part-time member of staff to join our Schools and Work Experience Team, based at Scarborough Hospital. It is a varied and busy role, working flexibly to lead and facilitate a wide range of pre-employment activities in schools and on our hospital sites. Recent success and increasing engagement with schools has created this job opportunity, and the successful candidate will help shape the future of this growing department.

You will use excellent communication skills to support any student (from Reception to Year 13) with aspirations of NHS careers, inline with the HEE Widening Participation Agenda. You will be required to work closely with colleagues from all levels of the organisation, sourcing staff to attend events and advising them on the best ways to support students. You will need to be proficient in Microsoft Office packages with strong time management and organisational skills.

Main duties of the job

  • Plan, co-ordinate and deliver a wide range of pre-employment activities within schools (e.g. attendance at careers fairs, careers talks) and on hospital site (e.g. work experience, activity days).
  • Be the main point of contact for Scarborough site for Schools and Work Experience, and provide advice and guidance to staff about opportunities for students.
  • Communicate with schools, staff and students, managing group inboxes, working up to delivering careers advice and guidance.
  • Be responsible for the supervision of other staff at off-site events, which may include the co-ordination of work activity.
