Job summary

Are you an experienced Nurse looking to progress in your career?

We would love to hear from experienced nurses with an interest in day surgery to complement our existing team as a Band 6 sister.

Our day unit has capacity for 32 trolley spaces currently but we are looking to expand in the near future. We cover all specialities including urology , breast, gynaecology, plastics, ENT and max fax, vascular and general surgery.

We have recently expanded our opening times until 22:00 to make the unit as self sufficient as possible and not rely on inpatient capacity.

Main duties of the job

In this role you will work as a competent member of the day surgery team, performing a wide range of duties in all areas . The efficient use of the Trust's resources is dependent on the effectiveness of all the staff in the department.

You will undertake the training and mentorship of the junior staff as well as educating clinicians new to the department on the workings of both units.

The post holder will support the trained members of staff in making the day surgery unit safe and pleasant for patients and staff and will be expected to undergo training as necessary.
