Job summary
The post holder will support the SHYPS Director of Operations and SHYPS Group Medical Director to develop and deliver the Microbiology and Cellular Pathology elements of the network operational strategy.
The post holder will deputise for the SHYPS Director of Operations as required. The post holder will provide the management function for the Microbiology and Cellular Pathology departments across all sites, ensuring effective and efficient use of allocated resources and to provide effective leadership to their teams to ensure service delivery.
The post holder will take on the role of Designated Individual (DI) for the HTA licence for the mortuary and laboratory activities. This may be a shared responsibility.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for the business, workforce and financial planning across the network, and will work closely with other managers and clinicians to support the Networks, Trusts and national objectives for the future strategy of the Microbiology and Cellular Pathology services.
The post holder will be expected to work for the clinical and business success of the network and specifically Microbiology and Cellular Pathology. This may include participation in the development of corporate policies and strategic plans and initiating changes in line with board decisions. The post holder will ensure that the development of their service is congruent with the strategic direction of the Trust and Network.
The post holder will be expected:
- to build and maintain effective relationships with clinical staff, managers and the Executive team to successfully develop Microbiology and Cellular Pathology services utilising the most up to date evidence based practice and methodologies.
- Promote the achievements and activities of the Microbiology and Cellular Pathology or elements of the Network internally and externally and prepare marketing and public relations information.
- Develop and maintain an effective network in pursuit of the transformation of Microbiology and Cellular Pathology services, representing the Trusts at external meetings and in so doing furthering the Trusts reputation
