Job summary
Location: York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (there is flexibility for the post holder to be based at either York or Scarborough Hospital. Travel to all other Trust sites will be required)
We are looking for a professionally qualified, enthusiastic and outgoing Assistant Librarian to work alongside our highly skilled team in the delivery and promotion of high quality knowledge and library services.
There will be opportunities to develop skills, attend internal and external training programmes, with visits to other local library services both within and outside the NHS. The successful candidate will be encouraged and supported to complete the registration process to become a chartered member of CILIP if not already chartered.
This role would be ideal for a newly-qualified knowledge or library professional who is keen to develop their skills and equally we welcome applications from more experienced librarians or knowledge specialists looking to move into an outreach role.

Main duties of the job
- This role specifically involves providing an outreach service to all sites within the Trust to ensure users are aware of evidence based resources and services.
- Take a proactive approach to knowledge management tools and techniques and work to ensure knowledge is effectively mobilised across the organisation
- Liaise with local public libraries, and other organisations, to collaborate on projects, specifically Health Information Week and health literacy training.
- Under the direction of the senior team, assist in the assessment of knowledge requirements and mobilisation needs and the forging of partnerships and productive working relationships with key stakeholders both internal and external to the Trust.
