Job summary
The successful applicant will join a team of five dedicatedConsultant Urological Surgeons to provide a consultant-led comprehensive and modern urological service to the local population.
Applications are invited for the post of Senior Clinical Fellow for Urology department. This is an opportunity to join a busy, dynamic multidisciplinary team to help us improve the Urology service that we provide to our population. This is initially a 1-year fixed term post.
This post offers excellent career development opportunities, particularly for senior urology registrars. We provide dedicated support for Portfolio Pathway (formerly known as CESR) aspirants and those preparing for the FRCS exam, with consultant-led mentoring and peer support. Additionally, there is an established rotation between Luton and Milton Keynes hospitals to help candidates meet the three-unit experience requirement for the Portfolio Pathway.
Main duties of the job
The department of urology is a cohesive unit that provides a full range of core urology service, with each of the consultants having a sub-specialty interest in addition. All new referrals are seen in the efficiently run Urology clinic attended by all consultants.
The appointee will be based at Bedford Hospital. The emergency on-call commitment will be on a 5 day week (08:00-17:00) 1 in 6 Rota, with prospective cover for annual and study leave. Including one night per week (non-resident),1 in 6 weekend covering 48 hours.
The appointee should expect from time to time to fit in with alterations in circumstances, such as changes in staffing, introduction of new services, expansion or reduction of existing services and implementation and review of Annual Programmes. The successful candidate may be required to undertake duties at other hospitals and health premises within the area.

- oFull Registration and a Licence to Practice with the General Medical Council at point of application
- oThe applicant must have demonstrable skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking in English that enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues, as set out in the GMC's Good Medical Practice (2014)
- oIf the Primary Medical Qualification including clinical contact was not carried out using English, applicants must either: o Have an academic IELTS score of at least 7.5 in each domain and overall, or demonstrate equivalence by providing evidence of English language skills or o Complete the Occupational English Test (OET) and achieve grade B in each of the four domains tested in the OET to meet the GMC's requirement
