We are looking for a senior community midwife to ensure efficient management and coordination of a community midwifery team. You will ensure that there is effective interface with the hospital and community teams as well as external agencies such as GP's, health visitors, social services etc.
Main duties of the job
To ensure efficient management and coordination of a community midwifery team. You will ensure that there is effective interface with the hospital and community teams as well as external agencies such as GP's, health visitors, social services etc. You will also have knowledge of antenatal and neonatal screening in order that you can support the antenatal and neonatal screening manager from a community perspective. You will be an expert midwifery practitioner who will provide support and advice to colleagues.
You should have excellent knowledge of child and adult safeguarding to ensure that our service users achieve the best outcomes for their family.
You will be key in the delivery of the national drivers (Saving Babies Lives version 3, MIS) You will have the ability to communicate and drive innovative ways forward to ensure equality of care for our diverse and vulnerable community.
The position is for 37.5 hours a week, and you must work over 4 days at least for visibility.

We are committed to providing service user centred midwifery led care, initiated by all service users booked face to face and a continual drive towards a positive experience throughout pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period. . This is balanced with obstetric care provision including service users who require the support of our Level 3 neonatal services.
Our Maternity service offers Midwives a wealth of experience and balance to be able to provide care for both low and high risk service users and support for their partners and families. You will form part of the midwifery team providing health promotion and information to service users and families to ensure optimum outcomes of care. We have invested in midwifery posts and Consultants to support the care we offer to women and families.
Our recent projects include development of a community midwifery hub model.

With a level 3 Neonatal Unit on site, we offer care to not only our local population of Luton and South Bedfordshire, but to service users in Hertfordshire and beyond.
