Job summary

The Bedford Hospital Radiology department carries out a full range of diagnostic radiological examinations for Inpatient, Outpatients and Emergency Department patients. We provide all Diagnostic modalities such as MR, CT, U/S, DEXA, Cardiac Suite, Radionuclide Imaging, General Radiography, Theatres and Portables as well as an Interventional suite.The friendly atmosphere of the department and its status as a training centre for student Radiographers is the perfect environment for all radiographers looking to consolidate and develop their diagnostic imaging skills.

We are looking for keen and enthusiastic Radiographers looking to expand and consolidate their experience to join our highly motivated Radiographic team at Bedford Hospital.

As a Band 5 Radiographer, you will gain significant experience in the A&E department, benefit from exposure to Theatres & Portables, and rotate through all areas of main department.

Successful applicant expected to take part in the radiographer shift system following induction period. Our service is adaptable as we offer a range of shift patterns and flexible working to suit radiographic team needs.Working hours are 37.5 per week.

Main duties of the job

o To perform a range of X-ray procedures, producing high quality diagnostic X-ray images and providing excellent patient care.o To take part in the radiographer shift system.o To competently carry out a range of X-ray procedures, according to their professional training and departmental protocols, being proficient to work in all general rooms of the department.o To work independently in the A&E, CCC, theatres, CCU and wards for all plain X-ray and Image Intensifier procedures and provide first line advice to medical and nursing staff on X-ray procedures.o To participate in the departmental "Red Dot" system, following training making an initial assessment of the X-ray image, seeking advice from senior radiographers when necessary and alerting medical staff to image abnormalities on the X-rays.
