Applications are invited for the above full time posts for this 660 bedded acute hospital serving a local population of approximately 400,000. The appointment will be made in accordance with the Terms and Condition of service for Specialty Doctors (England) 2021
This post will join an enthusiastic, cohesive team of Dermatology Consultants, Specialty Doctors, nurse specialists and a full time Specialist Trainee. Candidates must have a sound knowledge of dermatology. We have excellent links with plastic and maxillofacial surgery and The Trust is the regional centre for head and neck cancer. We offer specialist paediatric dermatology, a cutaneous allergy service including patch and skin prick testing, phototherapy and PDT.
We won the QiC Dermatology Digital and Technology Solutions award 2021, were finalists in the HSJ national awards in 2021 and were highly commended in the British Medical Journal Team of the Year Awards 2019 for our innovative service which is run from an architect designed, purpose built department with modern facilities.
Main duties of the job
The Key tasks for the role of Specialty Doctor in Dermatology are;
To play a full part in the work of the Department and will be expected to maintain and help develop dermatology services.
To share equitable responsibilities with their professional colleagues and will contribute to the governance arrangements of the department. The post holder will be expected to provide dermatology cover for inpatient referrals but there is no on call out of hours rota.
Will be required to cover for colleagues during periods of absence.
He/she will have continuing responsibility for patients in his/her care and the proper functioning of the Department.
He/she will be expected to attend the Local and Supraspecialist Skin Cancer Multidisciplinary Team meetings as appropriate.
Will be encouraged to develop a special interest in line with the Departmental policy to expand its range of specialist services.
Will be expected to work with the local managers, general practitioners and other medical and professional clinical colleagues in the efficient running of the service.
The appointee will be expected to take an active part in Undergraduate and Postgraduate teaching, including the training of Specialist Registrars. Along with this, he/she will be expected to carry out audit projects.
He/she will be responsible for the training and supervision of junior medical staff who work with him/her and will devote time for this activity on a regular basis.
