Job summary

The purpose of the post is to support the Finance Business Partner and Directorate Accountant in providing information to the Finance Managers and Budget Holders for the Medicine Directorate ensuring that the Trust meets both its financial and performance targets.

Main duties of the job

To assist the Finance Business Partner and Directorate Accountant with the production of the monthly financial reports and annual budget setting process for the Medicine Service Lines (including Specialty Medicine, General Medicine, Acute Medicine and Emergency Medicine).

Job description

Job responsibilities

To assist with the production of timely and accurate financial statements for the Medicine Directorate on a monthly basis through the calculation and posting of accruals and prepayments.

To support budget holders in managing their financial position such that the Trust is able to achieve its financial targets. This will include providing complex and sensitive information, and will require skills of negotiation and persuasion.

Support the Finance Business Partner and Directorate Accountants with variance analysis.

Deal with queries from budget holders and other member of the finance team.

To run the financial reports of the Directorates financial position to the Finance Business Partner and Directorate Accountant to allow aggregation of the Trusts financial position on a timely monthly basis.

To assist with analysis of financial trends involving many streams of data and forecast financial expenditure.

Ensure invoices to other organisations for regular and ad-hoc services provided are raised in a timely manner and direct any queries received for any invoices to the relevant finance colleague.

To help prepare annual Directorate budgets for service planning, supporting the Finance Business Partner, Directorate Accountant and budget holders through the budget setting process.

To assist with monitoring & recording of budgetary changes throughout the year for relevant Directorates.

To act independently and show initiative under the supervision of Finance Business Partner and Directorate Accountant

To provide ad hoc support to Directorate Accountant, Finance Business Partner, Finance Managers, Director of Finance & other team members as and when required.
