Job summary

We are offering an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and motivated individual to join our neuro therapy team as a Therapy Technical Instructor. Our team of support staff work collaboratively with Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Speech and Language Therapists to ensure the delivery of a high quality service for neuro patients on the stroke unit and outlying wards.

Some of the fantastic opportunities our Technical Instructors have include;

  • Teaching patients exercise programmes
  • Helping patients to walk and move
  • Assisting patients with their speech and language therapy programmes.
  • Working with patients to achieve as much independence as possible with washing/dressing/toileting tasks and with making hot drinks and meal preparation
  • Assisting and leading with group therapy sessions
  • Assisting the therapist during treatment sessions
  • Issuing mobility and functional equipment
  • Administrative tasks

We provide structured support to our staff through regular supervision and we encourage our staff to attend inhouse and external training to support them in their role.

Main duties of the job

  • To undertake specific skilled support work to aid the rehabilitation of patients as delegated by the Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist or Speech and Language Therapist.
  • To accept patients referred by the Multi-disciplinary Team and relay all necessary information to the therapists to allow timely interventions.To accept patients referred by a qualified Therapist, treat them according to set treatment protocols, monitor progression and make alterations, within agreed parameters.
  • Work is not always directly supervised but is evaluated and monitored daily. Access to qualified staff is always available if required. Patients progress to be reported back on a timely basis.
  • To assist in the administration and clerical duties of the team.
  • To develop and maintain competencies through Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
