Job summary

The Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy MSK Outpatients department are seeking a Band Six Hand Therapist, of either Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy background, to join their excellent team of therapists.

You would join a well-established and highly skilled team of Hand Therapists who work across three satellite clinics with an excellent Technical Instructor and Administrative support. It is essential to have previous Hand Therapy experience in a specialised setting and have adequate splinting skills.

A good level of anatomy and physiology of the upper limb are an essential pre-requisite for this post along with knowledge of evidence based practice within the specialism of hand therapy.

The service sits within the dynamic and evolving Therapy Group which brings all Therapy services together to work in collaboration to ensure strong governance and leadership. Within the Group there are opportunities for multi-professional learning and service development.

Hour per week: 37.5 hours per week ( part time will be considered)

Shift pattern: 5 days per week Mon - Fri

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide advanced comprehensive assessment and treatment for a range of acute and long term hand / upper limb conditions for both children and adults.

The post holder will plan, deliver and evaluate appropriate treatment programmes and where required to do so in partnership with Consultants, GP's and other therapists.

The post holder will use a wide range of advanced treatment skills including the fabrication of an array of custom made splints and appropriately prescribe and fit off the shelf splints as required for the clinical condition.

We are a dynamic team actively involved in multidisciplinary clinics within Rheumatology, Orthopaedic and Fracture Clinic Departments.

We offer patients face to face appointments and are a paper light service using SystmOne record keeping and electronic exercise prescription.

The successful applicant will demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills and a natural enthusiasm to deliver high quality, patient centred care.

The post holder will be required to maintain accurate, comprehensive and up to date problem orientated records.
