Job summary

Following career progression within the team an exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Employee Relations Department as an HR Business Partner covering services across both the Bedford Hospital and Luton and Dunstable sites. We are seeking applications from dynamic qualified Human Resource professionals to join us.

As HR Business Partner you will be supporting the Trust across sites through a period of transformation, managing organisational change and employee relations activity and playing an essential part in contributing to the strategic plan. As part of your role you will:

  • Provide business partner support to support designated Care Units and ensure the provision of expert human resources/employee relations advice and support, offer guidance on human resources policy to support organisational change and workforce productivity initiatives.
  • To actively work on complex employee relations casework across the Trust, becoming involved in cases at all levels of the Trust's processes. You may also be required to support employment tribunal work in liaison with Trust solicitors.
  • Ensure that the employee relations service is customer focussed, efficient, and effective and delivered to the highest possible professional HR standards.
  • Take a corporate role in driving the HR agenda forward throughout the Trust, working in partnership with managers, staff side representatives, staff and other partners

Main duties of the job

  • Act as a strategic business partner to Clinical Service Lines, senior management and their teams, develop thorough understanding of the business plans and workforce issues to ensure that their requirements are identified and support planned and delivered on a timely basis.
  • Lead and manage the HR interface with managers and staff in the Trust, providing expert advice and support on employee relations issues, offering legal and terms and conditions advice, providing expert advice on complex employee relations cases.
  • Ensure the provision of a consistent professional service across all Clinical Service Lines, underpinned by sound knowledge and the principles of good practice.
  • Develop the management capability of line managers, coaching and equipping them with the knowledge and skills to handle staff management responsibilities in line with the Trust's strategic direction.
  • Influence and drive business thinking and develop approaches that support operational business objectives, organisational design and resource plans.
  • Foster a positive climate of employee relations within the Trust, to support the implementation of a partnership approach and develop and maintain good working relationships with representatives of Trade Unions and staff organisations.
  • Work in partnership with the Culture & Organisational Development team and the Training and Learning team to develop interventions to address the leadership and management agenda within the Trust promoting cultural change.

Employee Relations

  • Take responsibility for the management of complex employee relations cases through advice and coaching, ensure the approach is pragmatic working closely with the Employee Relations Team.
  • Facilitate advice and guidance on national/local terms and conditions of employment.
  • Develop and maintain expertise in specified areas of Human Resources management practice, including employment legislation and case law, impart this knowledge to managers and staff across the Trust.
