Exciting opportunity to be a hospital service manager in Bedfordshire
Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS FT, incorporating Bedford Hospital and Luton & Dunstable University Hospital are looking to recruit Service Managers for various clinical service lines.
Service Managers for clinical service lines are responsible for ensuring the smooth, every day running of clinical activities on behalf of a group of clinical specialists. We need skilled all-rounders to join our enthusiastic and friendly teams across our two hospital sites; we are looking for excellent communicators and problem solvers with the ability to assess a complex situation and make the right decision.

Main duties of the job
The Service Manager has responsibility for managing all aspects of operational delivery within the relevant sub-division of a clinical specialty, ensuring that service delivery standards are achieved.
The postholder will work collaboratively with the General Manager, Clinical Leads, Matron and other clinical services to ensure that service delivery and improvement plans are developed, implemented and reviewed.
Ensure that financial controls are established and maintained with the scope of the clinical specialty.

Provide visible operational leadership to the relevant clinical specialty and promote continual improvement in quality, performance and delivery of Trust objectives.
Lead, line manage and motivate staff within the relevant clinical specialty to deliver services (meeting the needs of patients).
Continually analyse service performance data against regional and national data and develop service improvement plans. Implement patient pathways and make progress towards achievement of wait time standards. Create formal reports to be shared Trust wide and with external partners.
Operate as accountable budget holder for the relevant clinical speciality budget.
Lead investigations and reviews of incidents and potential performance issues in line with Trust policy.
