Exciting opportunity to be a hospital service manager in Bedfordshire

Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS FT, incorporating Bedford Hospital and Luton & Dunstable University Hospital are looking to recruit Service Managers for various clinical service lines.

Service Managers for clinical service lines are responsible for ensuring the smooth, every day running of clinical activities on behalf of a group of clinical specialists. We need skilled all-rounders to join our enthusiastic and friendly teams across our two hospital sites; we are looking for excellent communicators and problem solvers with the ability to assess a complex situation and make the right decision.

Service managers are potentially our future senior leaders. As a service manager you will join a team that is proud to work for the NHS and honoured to serve our patients and local community, working in a stimulating, fast-moving and extremely rewarding environment.

If you have current experience of leading a team and a proven ability to think on your feet, then please apply. We would welcome applicants who are keen to support cross-site roles, but may also have opportunities at either our Luton & Dunstable Hospital Site or our Bedford Hospital Site, so please indicate on your application if you are only interested in roles at one of the sites. We are in need of service manager support in a number of clinical services and our aim is to match individuals to the teams that they will be most successful in.

Main duties of the job

The Service Manager has responsibility for managing all aspects of operational delivery within the relevant sub-division of a clinical specialty, ensuring that service delivery standards are achieved.

The postholder will work collaboratively with the General Manager, Clinical Leads, Matron and other clinical services to ensure that service delivery and improvement plans are developed, implemented and reviewed.

Ensure that financial controls are established and maintained with the scope of the clinical specialty.
