As Associate Director for the trust's Infection Prevention and Control Team (IPCT) the post holder is responsible with the Director of Infection Prevention and Control (DIPC) and Infection Control Doctor (ICD) for the prevention, monitoring, investigation and control of infection within Bedford Hospital NHS Trust
Main duties of the job
This is a senior role with key strategic importance, working closely with the Director of Infection Prevention & Control (DIPC) and the Infection Control Doctors (ICD). The post holder will deputise for the Trust's Director of Infection Prevention and Control (DIPC) as required.
The post-holder will take a significant role in working towards alignment of policies and procedures with the development of high quality evidence based IP&C policies and practices throughout the Trust. The post holder will provide support and guidance to Trust staff ensuring a patient focussed service.
The post-holder will oversee the line management of the IP&C nursing and administrative teams (IP&CT). Acting as the expert nurse they will be accountable with the DIPC for ensuring the IP&CT maintain an effective and efficient system throughout the Trust for the prevention, investigation and control of infections and any subsequent root cause analysis (RCA) and post infection review (PIR) processes in order to minimise the risks to patients, staff and the public.
The post holder will be required to establish and maintain effective and efficient communication networks with internal and external colleagues and corresponding organisations.
