This is an exciting opportunity for an individual to work with Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust's Digital Team within the EPR Programme.

As a Project Manager in the Digital Team you will be working on the delivery of projects within a Digital Programme, including infrastructure improvement projects and the implementation of new technologies across the organisation. The post holder will act as the senior lead for the key projects and be the liaison between the Department and the Trust. You will also be expected to manage projects where you may have to play a strong leadership role.

The post holder would be familiar with Prince 2 and/or Agile project methodologies and although not essential, practitioner level qualifications would be advantageous. You would benefit from having some technical / system knowledge and experience as you will be required to understand technical requirements and be able to communicate clearly with other stakeholders and users.

Main duties of the job

  • Define, document and safely execute projects (or a number of smaller initiatives) to time, cost and quality criteria and ensure they meet internal and external customer requirements.
  • Create robust plans and documents to assist in the implementation of new projects and initiatives.
  • Actively contribute to the whole project lifecycle to ensure deliverables are accomplished as specified by Digital Programme Manager, i.e. work on project initiation, delivery and closure activities.
  • Support the trust in the design, development, and implementation of systems. Supporting operational staff with the formation of support models as systems go into the live BAU environment
  • Regular written and verbal reporting of project progress, potential changes to plan, issues, risks, exceptions etc.
  • Liaise with suppliers in resolving project related problems and developing and monitoring contracts.

  • Present requests for change to the IT change advisory board on behalf of projects and stakeholders.
  • Create robust plans and documents to assist in the implementation of new projects and initiatives.
  • Foster strong working relationships with departments/individuals around the trust to promote the adoption of new systems working practice.
  • Line manage project staff with the project team, their delivery of work and development.
  • Manage the workload of project staff including those outside of direct reporting team e.g. staff from other departments in the Trust.
  • Support the trust in the design, development, and implementation of systems. Supporting operational staff with the formation of support models as systems go into the live BAU environment
  • Through training and self-exploration the post-holder will be expected to become familiar and competent with the technical capabilities of the department.
  • Establish project board structures, produce reports, and attend Project Board meetings.
  • To proactively monitor and report project progress, resolving issues and initiating corrective action as appropriate.
  • To appraise and manage risks to projects to successful outcome.Liaise with local primary care trusts, suppliers and other external organizations as required
  • To undertake post project reviews and benefits realisation.
