Job summary

  • To receive and welcome patients to the X-ray department, working on rotation in all reception areas of the Radiology department.
  • To use Radiology information systems, (CRIS/PIMS).
  • To communicate with medical, technical and support staff to ensure the smooth running of the imaging service.
  • To deal with Modality waiting lists for appointments

Main duties of the job

  • To keep patients waiting informed of any delays liaising with imaging staff so that information given is current and accurate.
  • On receipt of referrals register, the patient on PIMS when appropriate and then if required to register and "pend" on CRIS.
  • To scan referrals and other patient documents into CRIS as required.
  • To move electronic orders to appropriate waiting lists on CRIS.
  • To make appointments when required- printing appropriate prep sheets posting or phoning patient depending on urgency of appointment.
  • To contact the interpreting service and organise for an interpreter to be present for the patients examination.
  • To reschedule appointments on an individual basis or clinic basis as required.
  • To distribute to ward or send to patient any preparation medication required for an imaging procedure working under the set departmental guidelines.
