This is an exciting new opportunity for a Data Analyst to join the Nutrition and Dietetics department, supporting the hydration project, which aims to reduce the incidences of dehydration, infections and falls in care home residents across Bedfordshire and Luton.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for an experienced Data Analyst who will be able to use a wide range of tools and systems to identify, analyse and interpret data into valid and purposeful information. This role plays a key part in ensuring the development and success of this project. The post holder will work alongside the 2 Dietetic Assistant Practitioners for the hydration project and more widely within the community Dietetic team.
This is a part time role with the flexibility of remote working.

Job responsibilities
- To work with the dietitians and dietetic assistant practitioners in contributing to the overall success of the Hydration project which aims to reduce the incidences of urinary tract infections, falls and dehydration in older people in Luton and Bedfordshire
- To participate in discussions determining which performance measures are appropriate and can turn business needs and goals into performance measures
- To extract data from multiple sources and identify if the data is accurate and fit for purpose
- To apply a range of techniques and softwares to transform data into valid and purposeful information
- To identify, analyse and interpret trends or patterns within data
- To utilise existing tools/systems/processes to identify issues and areas for improvement within the department
- To produce new/develop existing training resources and educational materials
- To accurately collate and report information to commissioners on interventions implemented within care homes and domiciliary care agencies and their impact including lessons learned
- To work with the Dietetic Assistant Practitioners involved in the hydration project to produce a monthly report that details activity and progress
- To meet with managers and others as necessary to explain findings, support them with their information requirements and provide any necessary training
- To work on specific projects as agreed by direct line manager or Dietetics service lead.
- To undertake data quality checks and audits on a regular basis
- To support the induction of new starters within the community and food first team
- To take part in the annual appraisal process as an appraisee and be responsible for complying with agreed Personal Development Plans to meet knowledge and competencies
- To adhere to the trust policy regarding confidentiality and be responsible for escalating concerns or breaches to the food first team lead
- To demonstrate ongoing personal development through participation of internal and external development opportunities
- To work within and lead the development of departmental guidelines and SOPs alongside the food first team lead
- To be responsible for ensuring own mandatory training is up-to-dat
