Job summary
To Prepare and Cook food to a high standard for distribution to various areas throughout the hospital site so that the results meet user expectations. To work to high standards of hygiene and presentation. To assist Supervisors and Managers to ensure all preparation areas and kitchen recourses, people, equipment and foodstuffs are used efficiently and cost effectively in providing the overall service.
To ensure specified menu items, recipes, and the correct quantity of food are available to meet patients, staff or end user requirement.
To ensure raw, chilled or cooked ingredients to specified requirements are distributed to patients, staff or end use requirements
To assist in ensuring that preparation and kitchen equipment are effectively and efficiently maintained.
Main duties of the job
An opportunity has arisen to work within the catering department at Bedford Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. We are looking for an enthusiastic , passionate and flexible Chef to assist in quality food production for a busy and thriving restaurant and bistro service plus daily production for patient meals.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Basic Food and Hygiene Certificate (minimum)
- City and Guilds 701/1 and 2 (or equivalent)
- Significant experience working in a large scale food production environment

Hours of Duty:
Working between 06.00-20.00hrs (7.5 hour per day)
37.5 hrs per week, 5 days out of 7 with rotational weekends and Bank Holiday working
(This does not include weekend and bank holiday enhancements)
