Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic, hardworking and dynamic individual to join the Clinical Safety Team. The Clinical Safety team are responsible for leading programmes of work to improve safety and clinical outcomes for patients. We also work with clinical services to implement a range of quality improvement initiatives.
We are looking to recruit a data administrator to collate, manipulate, manage and present data and information to direct improvement initiatives, which are being led or facilitated by the clinical safety and quality team.
A suitable applicant would be someone who has good communication and be able to communicate at all levels within the multidisciplinary team. The post holder should have a good working knowledge of using Microsoft Office Package particularly Word and Excel at an advanced level. You will work in a small but supportive team within the Division of Quality and Safety Governance and receive appropriate support and development depending upon your personal needs.

Main duties of the job
The Clinical Safety Team are responsible for leading programmes of work to improve safety and clinical outcomes for patients as well as working with clinical services to implement a range of quality improvement initiatives. Key areas of patient safety work include prevention of thrombosis, sepsis, acute kidney injury and improving the response to patient deterioration. Quality improvement programmes of work vary according to the Trust Quality Priorities and national CQUIN programmes and include working with clinical teams to improve patient pathways to reduce unwarranted variation in practice and to ensure that practice follows the best evidence base.
The overarching aim for this post holder is to facilitate the effective use of data, information and knowledge to direct improvement initiatives, which are being led or facilitated by clinical members of the clinical safety and quality team.
The post holder will be responsible for collating, manipulating, managing and presenting data and information in a meaningful way, so that clinical team members can interpret the data to direct their quality improvement activities.
The post holder will perform some general administrative duties such as organising meetings and updating staff rosters.

- Routinely collect and collate information on a daily basis using a range of clinical patient information systems and audits (including patient experience, patient safety and clinical outcomes)
- Liaise with a range of clinical and support staff to gather and communicate clinical information
- To be responsible for ensuring that regular information and Data Quality reports are created and updated as per agreed timescales, ensuring that any Data Quality issues or abnormalities identified are highlighted as required

- Prepare reports for clinical service lines using patient safety and quality improvement metrics to support quality improvement activity
- Required to maintain knowledge across a wide range of information standards/technologies and skills and utilise that knowledge to advise on data collection/reporting processes within own area of expertise

Data Quality
- To undertake audits with regard to Data Quality and share such findings with the team
- To ensure reports are compared with previous reports and large changes are effectively investigated and corrected prior to initial submission. Ensuring that responses are in an appropriate format for the purpose for which they are required, the data is validated and approved prior to being sent out, deadlines are met and any problems escalated
- Ensure that information reports prepared for external submissions are free from patient identifiable information
- To ensure data is accurate and complete by developing validation checks on an on-going basis before data is used for analysis internally or sent outside the organisation
- Work with users to resolve data quality issues
- Interpret incomplete, inaccurate, and sometimes conflicting data from a variety of sources
- Resolve issues around corrupt data, investigating and correcting where necessary
Administration
- Take and transcribe minutes of meetings for the clinical safety team, prioritising those supporting CQUIN projects
- Maintain action logs for clinical safety and improvement projects and take responsibility for updating and managing them under the direction of the senior team members
- Under the direction of the senior team members, organise meetings, events such as workshops and roadshows for clinical safety and improvement
- Under the supervision of senior team members, collate data and action plans for Patient Safety alerts
