Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic Pharmacy Receptionist to work as a key part of the pharmacy team within our modern automated, dispensary and distribution area. You will work on our busy Pharmacy Reception in main Pharmacy dealing with patients and members of the Healthcare team.You must be able to demonstrate an enthusiasm for supporting innovation and delivering excellent patient experience.
Main duties of the job
To provide a courteous reception service to patients and hospital staff in line with dispensary procedures, contributing to the overall efficient and effective running of the dispensary.
To support the Dispensary in filing of prescriptions together with maintaining efficient housekeeping duties.
To train / supervise the work of volunteers and trainees at Dispensary reception.
To monitor the Prescription Tracking System and advise the senior dispensary technicians on prioritisation.

Job responsibilities
As the first point of contact for the dispensary service to behave in a courteous manner towards patients and other staff at all times.
To receive prescriptions and other requests into the pharmacy according to the agreed procedures and deal with straightforward problems.
To answer the dispensary telephone and resolve straightforward problems or pass them on appropriately.
To collate, file and prepare for archiving completed prescriptions and request forms according to dispensary procedures.
To ensure all prescriptions types are entered onto the computer tracking system ensuring the numbered sequence is maintained.
To highlight urgent prescriptions to the dispensary team when required.
To use the pharmacy system (JAC) to confirm that medicines on prescriptions are in stock.
To monitor the Prescription Tracking System and advise the senior dispensary technicians on prioritisation as appropriate.
To communicate directly with the ward discharge officers and Trust discharge teams around progress of discharge prescriptions.
To communicate with Porters and Volunteers to ensure a timely delivery of dispensed items to wards.
To replenish dispensary sundries such as bottles and cartons and order stock.
To return original packs to cupboards/shelves after dispensing. Ensuring that the dispensary is maintained to a tidy state.
To carry out routine stocktaking, monitor stock levels and maintain correct stock levels.
To be responsible for ordering and maintaining stock of additional labels.
To be responsible for ordering stock and maintaining display of leaflets for outpatient waiting area.
