Main duties of the job
The post-holder is responsible for direct clinical care for individual patients and groups of patients within their area of work. This includes the assessment of care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care from admission to discharge. The post holder is expected to supervise junior staff and be able to teach qualified and unqualified staff, including pre and post registration students. The post holder is expected to take charge of a ward where appropriate and also be responsible for staff and resources in the absence of the ward manager or deputy. The post holder may be moved between wards or departments during a shift due to service need.
