Job summary
The Head of Applications & Developments is a key member of the IT leadership team, the post holder will have an extensive understanding of application deployment, support, training, development, maintenance, and testing in an acute Trust setting. The role is responsible for providing leadership, guidance, support or specialist knowledge to the key stakeholders and the Application & Development functions. The role includes responsibilities such as HR management, vendor management, financial management, and consistent service improvement for the Application & Development service.
Working in a matrix management arrangement and responsible to the Chief Digital Information Officer, the post holder will support the programme teams in the delivery of project objectives relating to the Application & Development service. The role will also be responsible for the Application and Development service day to day operational matters.
The role will involve regular communication with internal and external stakeholders or suppliers. The post holder will provide expert technical advice, strong leadership and clear direction to the organisation, IT leadership team and stakeholders they manage. The role will work to establish and maintain excellent relationships with other partners and stakeholders.
Main duties of the job
Formulate long-term, strategic plans, in relation to the Trust's Electronic Patient Record, and other critical strategic systems. Such plans will include uncertainty and will have an impact across the whole organisation and the wider ICS.
The post holder will be responsible for the budget management for several services: including pay, non-pay, and capital expenditure. This includes responsibility for budget setting in several services.
Responsible for policy implementation and development for digital services across the whole organisation.
Responsible for the leadership and line management of several managers leading critical digital teams/departments.
Responsibly for the management, development, and provision of system services across the organisation in order to support key business outcomes.
