Job summary
There is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic proactive individual to join our Clinical Skills Training Team as a Senior Clinical Skills Trainer.
The Clinical Skills Training Team within The Christie Institute for Cancer Education provides effective generic clinical skills training and support for a range of Nursing and Allied Health Professionals, and Healthcare Support Workers.
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual who will assist in moving the service forward, focusing on developing and maintaining standards and upholding trust protocols and guidelines in relation to clinical skills and systemic anti-cancer therapy training and competency assessments.
The successful candidate will need to lead and coordinate the operational and day to day work of the clinical skills training service in designated clinical areas working closely with Departmental Managers, Clinical Educators, Specialist Practice Educatos (SACT), clinical staff and other members of the multidisciplinary team. They will also have to work as part of a team to deliver planned generic clinical skills and SACT training sessions, provide a trust wide Alertive bleep service and cross cover clinical skills and SACT training in other designated clinical areas during absence.
Also the successful candidate, in designated clinical areas, will monitor and supervise The Christie Care Certificate, and identified medical devices training processes alongside specific Leads for new staff.

Main duties of the job
1. Develop and deliver clinical skills and SACT training to agreed standards, procedures and policies to a range of internal and external clinical staff across professions. This may be to small or large groups and or on a 1:1 basis.
2. Evaluate and adapt delivery of training dependent upon assessment of current level of knowledge, skills and experience of the learner.
3. Assess the practical clinical skills competencies of individual clinical staff to established competency assessment frameworks. Feedback areas of concern to senior colleagues and/or departmental managers.
4. Devise, develop and review training materials, presentations and input/comment on policy updates under the direction of the Clinical Skills Training Manager.
5. Maintain and develop own knowledge, skills and competence in relation to clinical practice, clinical skills and SACT training.
