Job summary

The Deep Clean Team at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust is currently recruiting Domestic Assistants to join a dedicated cleaning team responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness across all wards and departments, including COVID-19 and other infection-sensitive areas. We are seeking reliable, enthusiastic, and flexible individuals with cleaning experience who are eager to develop their skills in a department committed to upholding the National Standards of Cleanliness.

We have two positions available:

Full-time (37.5 hours/week): Thursday & Friday 14:00-22:00, Saturday & Sunday 08:00-16:00, and Monday 14:00-22:00 (including bank holidays).

Part-time (25 hours/week): Monday to Friday 08:00-13:00 (including bank holidays).

Both roles offer the opportunity to work as part of a supportive team in a dynamic healthcare environment where cleanliness and infection control are a top priority.

Main duties of the job

This role involves maintaining a clean, safe, and hygienic environment across hospital wards and departments to support patient care and infection control. The successful candidate will work closely with nurses, bed managers, and clinical staff to carry out discharge and infection cleans in line with the local RAG poster and the National Standards of Cleanliness. Under the supervision of the Domestic Supervisor, they will provide a rapid response cleaning service and ensure the correct and safe use of cleaning equipment, following all relevant training and safety protocols.

Team members are also trained to use specialist decontamination equipment, such as Hydrogen Peroxide Vapour systems, to manage infection risks effectively. Adherence to infection prevention and control procedures is essential, along with accurate record-keeping and timely reporting of any maintenance or safety issues. The role supports a proactive, responsive approach to cleanliness in healthcare settings, contributing directly to patient safety and service efficiency
