Job summary

We are seeking a passionate, enthusiastic, and experienced Project Manager to work as part of the North West Teenage and Young Adults (TYA) Operational Delivery Network (ODN).

The post holder will provide project management skills to lead on and support the planning, implementation, and delivery of key quality improvement projects in the North West.

The Project Manager post is an excellent opportunity for an individual who is passionate about improving cancer services with experience working in a project environment. The post holder will have a key role in supporting trusts, and building strong relationships with stakeholders to support implementation, reporting and evaluation.

Main duties of the job

The Project Manager will be an integral member of the TYA Operational Delivery Network and will have experience and well-developed communication skills, enabling you to work across Teenage and Young Adult Operational Delivery Network (TYA ODN) member organisations.

Working with multi-disciplinary teams to initiate, design, plan, control and execute specific projects across the Network, you will champion and support the concept of continuous improvement and will adapt to the changing needs and requirements of the Network and its members.

As part of a dedicated team, you will work towards strategically improving outcomes and ensuring TYA Cancer Care meets the required National Service Specifications and NHS Long Term Plan standards.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Project Management :

1.1. Work across organisations, primarily in the North West, to develop, implement, and monitor specific projects as outlined in the ODN work plan.

1.2. Analyse critical project problems and issues to identify areas for improvement and deliver efficient and effective solutions. Including undertaking audits, process mapping, and root cause analysis to gather, assimilate and interpret quantitative and qualitative data.

1.3. Develop key stakeholder relationships across the region at all clinical and non-clinical levels. Be a powerful advocate for developing TYA Cancer Care.

1.4. Proactively identify and manage project risks and issues, escalating as required through the TYA ODNs risk and issue management structure

1.5. Work closely with enabling services, such as Operations, IT, Finance, Human Resources, to progress the project as required.

1.6. Interact with other relevant projects, initiatives, and services external to the project/s to facilitate discussion and agreement to ensure collaboration and alignment.

1.7. Attend, present, and represent the project/s at relevant service meetings within the ODN.

2. Reporting:

2.1. Produce, provide and maintain regular progress updates to senior colleagues across the TYA ODN, including key decision-makers.

2.2. Write formal project reports to be shared at an executive level. This includes reporting progress, monitoring, and escalating risks and issues impacting improvement.

2.3. Report to the Senior Leadership Team and Network Oversight Group.

2.4. Attend, present, and contribute to the TYA ODN Oversight Group and key meetings as required. This includes senior clinical and executive meetings.

3. Policy/Service Development/Governance:

3.1. Propose revisions to and develop new guidance, policies, standards, and quality assurance where appropriate.

3.2. Participate in Information Governance and security as required, ensuring appropriate governance and security in your area.

3.3. Participate in quality management systems, undertaking audits to improve systems and services.

3.4. Facilitate and initiate meetings and workshops as appropriate to progress the project/s.

3.5. Influence stakeholders to undertake audits, participate in service development, and contribute to and adopt guidance, policies, standards, and quality assurance.

3.6. Present findings and lessons learnt to large groups of people, including the public, at regional, national, and international forums.

4. Financial / Physical Resources:

4.1. Manage and maximise the financial resources allocated to the project/s by making proposals, resource planning, and identifying income and grant-producing opportunities.

4.2. Safely use IT/network hardware and software, including digital document management

4.3. Liaise and negotiate with stakeholders, ensuring project delivery aligns with agreed parameters.

5. Leadership and Development

5.1. Act as a role model for TYA ODN, embedding best leadership practices into all interactions.

5.2. Attend relevant professional development opportunities, including external training.
