Job summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated MR clinical scientist to lead the Imaging with Non-Ionising Radiation (INIR) section at The Christie. The INIR group includes the MR and ultrasound sections. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with established experience and reputation in MR physics to lead the MR section, and to provide strategic oversight for the ultrasound section.
The MR physics group is part of the Imaging Physics and Radiation Protection (IPRP) section and comprises a team of twelve MR clinical scientists and physicists who support approximately 40 MR systems across 22 MR departments, at sites across the North West of England. We provide an integrated support role across the departments we work with, working closely with clinical colleagues to optimise imaging and to improve and develop MR services. The ultrasound group consists of two physicists and four engineers, and day-to-day management of the service sits with the ultrasound group lead.
We also have an expanding MR research role at The Christie and actively contribute to CRUK and BRC funded research projects, with strong collaborations with the Radiotherapy Related Research department at the University of Manchester.
For further information or an informal discussion about the role, please contact Mike Hutton (INIR section lead) by email (michael.hutton4@nhs.net) or telephone (07940715993).
