Our communications team deliver communications across a variety of channels, including news stories, regular e-bulletins, briefings, social media and our magazine for staff. It is vital that we get our internal communications right and you will play a key role in strengthening our messaging to and engaging with our staff.

We're looking for an experienced and dynamic communications professional to work with colleagues across the organisation to contribute to internal communications and specific staff projects, such as our annual staff awards. One of our new values is Connect with People and you will have a vital role in bringing this to life in multiple, imaginative ways, supporting the work of a range of colleagues. You'll be required to work with teams across the Trust to gain their views on internal communications and their suggestions for improvements, and use staff feedback to recommend and implement new initiatives to improve internal communications and ensure our staff view The Christie as a great place to work.

Main duties of the job

Your main duties relate to producing high quality engaging content and by developing creative ways of conveying important news and information to our staff. You'll do this through encouraging two-way communication through, for example, surveys, suggestion schemes, workshops, and social networking tools.

There will be the requirement to work with digital content, producing and uploading website and intranet copy, working on electronic newsletters, and producing corporate emails and briefings - as well as contributing to our bi-monthly staff magazine. You'll be adept at using office tools and assist in keeping our photo library up to date, data management and evaluation metrics.

You'll also be working closely with our organisational development team and be involved in event management - supporting and promoting a range of events including our annual staff awards, diversity initiatives, and staff recognition schemes.

In addition to this, you'll also work on campaigns such as our seasonal vaccination campaign, national NHS campaigns and a range of other staff initiatives.This role will include working occasional unsocial hours and also you will be required to travel for meetings and events when necessary.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Support on the creation and delivery of internal communication campaigns and plans that can be measure and in line with the Trusts priorities

Support to embed the principles of the Trusts new values and behaviours

Be the lead for communications on shared campaigns and projects, promoting major internal programmes, such as Christie International, and our diversity and inclusion work, supporting activity within the HR/Organisational Development teams and relevant divisions as appropriate.

Support the team on the development and management of our internal communication channels, ensuring they are regularly reviewed and evaluated for usage and impact, and enhanced in line with changing Trust needs and new technology.

Source articles of interest, prepare, rewrite and edit copy for the Trust magazine to improve readability (Plain English).

Assist with the development of new and measurable channels of communications, as required based on staff feedback and insight support divisions with rollout as needed.

Establish and nurture effective relationships with colleagues across the Trust working collaboratively to ensure buy-in for activities, innovate, and to share good practice, information and news stories helping to build a sense of connection and belonging across the Trust.

Work with the digital team to assist in the development of HIVE our internal website, and our staff app to ensure that these meet the needs of different audiences.

Work closely with the Engagement & Organisational Development team to ensure effective management and synchronisation of the internal and external message.

Organise the physical distribution of staff communications including preparing the weekly key takeaways and the monthly Team Briefing, and any other emerging requirements.

Provide support to oversee all internal communication channels including but not limited to weekly news, staff forum, Team Briefing, Chief Executive updates and global emails ensuring consistency of message and quality of communication.

Support award submissions by the Trust, individual staff members and teams

Assist with creating content for internal purposes and stakeholder activities and helping to update the Trusts social media platforms. This includes creating accurate digital content such as podcasts, short videos, blogs etc to connect with the needs of different audiences.

Assist with maintaining good stakeholder relationships and engagement using a variety of communications methods across the sectors locally, regionally, and nationally.

Ensure that the requirements of different colleague groups are built into the design and approach for communicating information to drive engagement and connection with the Trust. This includes colleagues who do not have regular digital access, work regularly from home, are on night shifts, work at our satellite centres etc.

Ensure that the needs of colleagues with accessibility and cultural requirements are actively considered in the design, co-creation and dissemination of information.

Retain a focus on continual improvement and actively seek to use data and feedback to enhance approaches, materials and platforms.

Act as communications lead for specific internal campaigns and projects including staff awards.

Provide support to manage events, photo calls, visits and awards.

Adopt a proactive approach to continual learning, maintaining an up to date knowledge of the latest trends and advances in communication technology and changing colleague expectations.
