To ensure accurate planning and delivery of Radiotherapy, as prescribed, and in line with the Quality Management System, with appropriate care of the patient with a cancer diagnosis.
To be actively involved with the development of Radiotherapy Services
The post holder must contribute to the efficient running of the service, and work within The Christie NHS Foundation Trust policies and Health & Safety legislation.
Main duties of the job
Communication Skills
Ensuring accurate recording/input of treatment and planning data.
Analyse systematically and evaluate all data and information relevant to patients' diagnosis, ensuring the patient and their relatives are treated with dignity and respect at all times.
Communicate confidential sensitive information, and provide emotional support, to patients and their carers/relatives
Knowledge, training and experience
Undertake and evaluate radiation dose delivery and complex calculations involving a range of radiation types and energies.
Interpret, monitor and evaluate the treatment prescriptions to ensure that radiotherapy is delivered accurately and reproducibly and in accordance with the quality system.
Be able to accurately position patient and operate highly complex radiotherapy and imaging equipment along the radiotherapy pathway
Ensure all work and actions comply with local rules and current UK Ionising Radiation Regulations (IRR) 2017 and IR(ME)R 2017.
Participate in the shift system, bank holidays, weekend working and on-call

About us
The Christie at Oldham opened in 2010 and is one of three satellites delivering radiotherapy across the network.
In 2022 The Christie at Oldham embarks on a 6 million pound replacement programme upgrading Linacs and scanner with the latest technology.
The Radiographers work closely with the medical support and information team providing an accurate, efficient and high quality radiation service.
Working hours must be flexible to fit the needs of the service. This may include evening work, some weekend working and does include working bank holidays. Individuals will be expected to participate in all shift patterns.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- To ensure that the highly complex radiotherapy and imaging equipment is safe and accurate to operate, both for staff and patients; undertaking the appropriate machine checks, reporting any variances, faults and malfunctions as necessary.
- Undertake and evaluate radiation dose delivery complex calculations, involving a range of radiation types and energies.
- Interpret, monitor and evaluate the treatment prescription to ensure that radiotherapy is delivered accurately and reproducibly.
- Evaluate delivery of radiotherapy through application and interpretation of treatment verification procedures.
- Follow appropriate systems and working methods to achieve the safe, timely achievement of workload targets.
- Be able to accurately position patient and operate highly complex radiotherapy and imaging equipment along the radiotherapy pathway.
- Keep accurate records and comply with necessary policies and procedures.
- Analyse systematically and evaluate all data and information relevant to patients diagnosis, ensuring the patient and their relatives are treated with dignity and respect at all times.

- Assist in the supervision and training/teaching of pre-registration students and new members of staff.
- Highlight to line manager all issues of poor inadequate performance, including capability and poor professional standards, for students and employees.
