At The Christie we provide highly specialised cancer care for haematology and oncology patients. This is an exciting opportunity for enthusiastic and highly motivated oncology/haematology nurses to join our existing expert teams. You will possess excellent communication skills and a passion for teaching to deliver high quality education and assessment to our nursing workforce.
There will be 3 x full time additional Band 6 Clinical Practice facilitator in Networked Services:
2 posts x Haematology, Transplant & TYA Services in Palatine treatment centre and the Christie Private Care. (1x permanent and 1x fixed term)
1 post x SACT Services- Main Christie Site, Outreach, Christie at Home (fixed term)
Main duties of the job
Each CPF role will include maintaining strategies for the induction, education and continuing professional development of staff on:
- Inpatient, ambulatory care and day unit facilities and The Christie Private Care haematology - for the haem/TYA posts
- ORTC day unit, outreach sites, christie@home service - for the SACT services post.
The post holder will work clinically with staff ensuring they are supported in the specialist knowledge and skills required for the department. They will ensure that the highest standards are shared throughout the units and that Standard Operating Procedures and Trust policies are adhered to.
The post holder will ensure the continued compliance of internal education days and by using the best standards of care as a benchmark. It is expected that you will play an active role in the delivery of SACT training and education including the UKONS Passport.
The post holder will be required to work autonomously and exercise a high level of clinical expertise and have excellent interpersonal skills and knowledge of cancer malignancies, SACT protocols and stem cell transplantation.
We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic nurse who displays initiative, flexibility and possesses excellent communication skills. Working within a supportive environment, alongside the CPF team, developing excellent skills and knowledge in the relevant specialised area.
About us
Haematology/ TYA services: Any potential applicants should have relevant knowledge and skills to complement our existing haematology/ TYA team. The Haematology Oncology service at the Christie offers state of the art treatments delivered by leading clinicians to patients with blood cancers and across the Manchester Region and beyond. The services have an established cellular therapy and transplant programme, and was one of the initial treatment centres for CAR T therapy. It is also a principle treatment centre for teenage and young adults with an extensive TYA service and team providing care to TYA patients.
SACT Services - Any potential applicants should have relevant knowledge and skills to complement our existing oncology team. We are one of the largest SACT treatment centres in Europe. treating approx. 200 patients per day across our day unit, outreach sites and christie@home team. We are leaders in innovation, delivering new treatments and working closely with our world renowned research facility.
