Job summary
This exciting opportunity will provide the successful applicant with expertise in cutting edge treatment modalities and research methods for head and neck cancer. The post will have clinical (50%) and protected research (50%) time within a 40 hours per week job plan.
During the 12 month fellowship half of your time will be spent gaining expertise in patient selection, treatment planning and the delivery of proton therapy through clinical rotations within the Proton Department, focusing on head and neck malignancy and skull base tumours. You will support the on-going multi-centre Torpedo Trial, investigating the role of proton therapy for oropharynx cancers.
You will provide clinical support for Head and Neck patients being treated on the MR Linac, gaining expertise in the indications and benefits of MRI guided therapy for Head and Neck malignancy.
Main duties of the job
The post is suitable for senior trainees in clinical oncology, post FRCR or equivalent. Overseas applications are most welcome.
Over the 12 months period, the fellow will have clinical experience in proton therapy for head and neck as well as skull base tumours.There will be ample opportunities to actively participate in proton clinical trials, as well as gain competence in treatment planning and delivery of proton therapy. The fellow will also gain expertise in indications and benefits of MRI-guided therapy for head and neck malignancy, whilst providing clinical support for head and neck patients being treated on the MR linac.
Demonstrable academic experience and evidence of peer-reviewed journal publication is desirable. However, appropriate supervision and support will be provided to motivated successful candidate without prior experience.
